Sneak Peek 2 - Woodlands Fall Festival and Market

Hands up. How many of you remember textbooks like this from your high school or college days. Yep, just about all of you.

Books like this remind me of some of my favorite people. I was lucky to have been taught by some wonderful English teachers. They have made me a life-long reader, which is a gift indeed.

If there's a language arts teacher on your gift list, here's a great addition to his or her bookshelf.

Available this weekend at the Woodlands Fall Fair and Market at Christ Church United Methodist. Come and get it!

It's craft fair time again.

On Saturday, Oct 26, Reading With Scissors will have a booth at the 2014 Woodlands Fall Market & Fair at Christ Church United Methodist and to whet your appetite, here's a sneak peek of a book I just finished.

Normally I don't leave dust jackets on books, but this time I made an exception. Here's what the book looks like on the outside.

and here's what it looks like on the other side.

C'mon. You know it's funny.

The show starts 9 a.m. Christ Church UMC is at 6363 Research Forest Drive, The Woodlands, TX 77381.

The Fun of the Hunt

Eggstravaganza is over for another year. And you know what that means. Time to go spend the profits!

You know fate is looking out for you when you walk into an estate sale and the first thing you run across is this book.

I heard angel choirs as I dug deeper and found this treasury...

...all of which will now be part of my estate sale one day. I can't wait to dig into all of them!

While at Eggstravaganza I had the opportunity to see many beautiful displays. It makes me want to up my game the next time I ply my wares. That's why I was really excited to find this old trellis.

It has a beautiful patina...

...and is decorated with scrolled hearts.

The seller even threw in one free S-hook. :)
Which does a dang good job of holding a pretty Easter wreath at eye level.

Know what I'm saying?

Wait, no, I meant this one more thing--a Mr & Mrs book for that favorite couple getting ready to tie the knot.

But wait! What about the new popular baby names series? I need to show you that, too!

And the book wreath--perfect for hanging on the hospital door to welcome that new arrival...

But wait, there's more. But wait, I'm running out of time.

Just come to Eggstravaganza on Wednesday and see for yourself! Don't miss it!

Eggstravaganza Countdown: 2 Days to Go

This is what it looked like at my house yesterday.

Rain. Dreary. Bleh.

And here's what it looked like at my house today.

Sunshine!

Admit it. Sunshine is fabulous. Especially on a clear spring day when the temperatures are below 80 and the humidity is still tolerable. April is why we live in Houston.

And sunshine is why I made this book!

Sunshine with a twist! Just to make room for a few other words.

And a few flowers in the corner.

Hollow kusudama. Bright orange with white insides.

All on a bright yellow, sunshiny book.

Available for you in just 2 DAYS at Eggstravaganza!

Eggstravaganza Countdown: 6 Days To Go

A couple of years ago when I decided I wanted to start making paper flowers, the first kind I made were these:

I still like them. Very simple with a bright jewel in the center.

I make them with very thin wire so they look good in all kinds of vases. Vases made of wood...

...and vases made of books.

I like to mass them together in a big jumble.

You can too. Just come buy some at the Eggstravaganza. April 9.

Eggstravaganza Countdown: 8 Days To Go

Guess what these are.

They're my shelves in my workshop full of RDCB pages that I've removed from books that I folded.

I have boxes of them now.

And stacks on tables.

But check out my new obsession.

Butterflies made of RDCB pages!

I love them! I've added a magnet to the back of them so you can pin them to your fridge.

Or hold your favorite picture to your bulletin board.

And they'll be on sale at the Eggstravaganza next week.

Butterflies are free!  Well actually $2 each.

Eggstravaganza Countdown: 9 Days To Go

Nine days to go until Eggstravaganza and what could be hiding behind the rich black cover of this RDCB?

It's one of my new favorites:

Ever since I saw this paper, I wanted to make this book. I love the subtle pink, gray, and taupe.

It really highlights the color of the pages.

And the black edge of the cover really sets it off.

Will this book be available at Extravaganza? Believe it!
